1348: Ex Voto - Behind the scenes with Jennifer English and Alby Baldwin
Developer Sedleo provides insights into the performance capture and dubbing work of Jennifer English and Alby Baldwin for the medieval action adventure 1348: Ex Voto in a behind-the-scenes video.
The cinematic action-adventure 1348: Ex Voto from Italian indie studio Sedleo will be released on March 12, 2026, for PC. You take on the role of Aeta, a young knight who fights her way through bandit camps, mercenary fortresses, and ruins ruled by fanatics in 14th-century Italy ravaged by the plague—with a single goal: to save her closest confidante, Bianca. The combat system features impressive sword fights based on historical European martial arts, with interchangeable stances for one- and two-handed weapons.
More than just voices – performance capture with English and Baldwin
A behind-the-scenes video reveals more about the creation of the two main characters. Alby Baldwin – known from British theater and TV productions and as a versatile stage artist – plays Aeta, while Jennifer English takes on the role of Bianca. English should be very familiar to gaming fans: she lent her voice to Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3 and played Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (which she recently won Best Performance at the Game Awards 2025), among other roles. So she was involved in two of the most acclaimed RPGs of recent years.
For 1348: Ex Voto, both actresses didn't just record dialogue in the studio, they did full performance capture recordings—mocap suits included. Fighting, running, emotional confrontations: every movement and every gesture of the characters comes directly from the two of them. In the video, English describes the complex dynamic between Aeta and Bianca as one of her favorite aspects of the project.
The video also shows everyday life behind the scenes in the studio and gives an impression of how much craftsmanship the 15-person team put into this debut project.
