Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced - Review Score Roundup

Today marks the launch of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced. But is Ubisoft just hyping up this remake? Fortunately, early player reviews and scores from the trade press paint a picture of an (almost) perfect Caribbean open world.

All eyes are on Ubisoft these days—as they always are when an Assassin’s Creed game hits the market. Expectations are traditionally high, and with the highly acclaimed 2013 original serving as the basis for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced as a remake, not much can really go wrong. In fact, Ubisoft has managed to steer its ship into safe waters. In addition to the new, stunningly beautiful graphics, there are also fresh quests, new characters, and numerous quality-of-life improvements, such as those related to stealth.

The completely revamped package is already proving it's creed and lives up to the original's pedigree. As of now AC Black Flag Resynced has a score of 84 out of 100 on the review aggregator MetaCritic. While most of the changes were graphically, there's also a number of combat and movement changes that bring it in line with more recent entries in the series. Indeed, over at IGN they awarded the Black Flag remake an impressive 9/10. "More than just a shinier version of the same game you remember, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced brings what was already one of the best games in the series up to today’s standards.".

Another 9/10 comes from PCGamesN who praised the PC specific options. Like last years AC Shadows, players can expect a suite of PC only options including: Ray Tracing, DLSS / FSR / XeSS, higher framerates, terrain quality, cloud quality and much much more. "Black Flag Resynced is definitely worth another playthrough for those who mined the original for all it was worth, and an absolute gift for those who have never heard of Edward Kenway."
