Bolt Action Unveiled: Slitherine Brings the Warlord Tabletop Classic to Digital

Bolt Action is back in the spotlight: Publisher Slitherine offered a first look at the digital version of the popular tabletop classic at the Next Festival. Turn-based strategy with a classic tabletop look.

At the Slitherine Next Festival, new footage of Bolt Action was unveiled: The clip “First Look at the Digital Battlefield” shows gameplay scenes from the PC adaptation of the well-known WWII tabletop system for the first time.

From the Game Table to the Screen

Bolt Action, developed by Frag Games, is a World War II strategy game that adapts the tried-and-true ruleset of its tabletop counterpart into a turn-based PC experience. You take command of military units and fight your way from the beaches of Normandy to the fortified towns and hedgerow landscapes of northern France. You can choose from U.S., British, and German forces, each with their own unit designs.

At the heart of the gameplay is an activation system based on command points: morale, cover, and line of sight determine the success or failure of every maneuver, while indirect fire and flanking attacks serve as tactical tools. With the Army Painter, you can customize squads, weapons, and vehicles—ensuring that the tabletop feel is preserved. In addition to a dynamic single-player campaign with evolving mission objectives, Bolt Action offers replayable battles as well as a competitive multiplayer mode with leaderboards.
