Conan Exiles Enhanced Edition arrives May 5th, free for all owners

To celebrate the 8th anniversary, Funcom is giving all Conan Exiles players a massive visual upgrade to Unreal Engine 5 with Conan Exiles Enhanced—for free. And that’s not all.

Eight years of barbarism, survival, and castle-building. But for the anniversary, we’re not just getting a measly slice of cake—we’re getting a complete overhaul of the engine that powers the game. On May 5, 2026, Conan Exiles Enhanced will be released as a free update for all owners of Conan Exiles on PC. Developed in collaboration with Inflexion Games, the upgrade brings the open-world survival RPG up to modern standards with Unreal Engine 5—featuring significantly improved graphics, modern rendering technology, and a stable 60+ FPS on low to ultra settings on most computers. The Steam Deck is also set to receive official support. Check out the video and your jaw will hit the floor.

Opening the Borders to the Exiled Lands

As strong as a barbarian: For the first time ever, you can explore both the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah in a single session in Conan Exiles Enhanced. Both maps have been merged, allowing you to switch between regions with the same character—no restart required, no compromises. If you run a multiplayer server, you’ll even be able to host both maps simultaneously in the future. Access to the Isle of Siptah still requires the corresponding DLC.

What else is included in the Enhanced Update?

In addition to the graphical leap forward, Conan Exiles Enhanced delivers a whole host of practical improvements: multiple character slots per account, a revamped interface, smarter crafting (ingredients are automatically pulled from nearby camps and companion inventories), mod support from day one with a refreshed Mod Dev Kit, and full save file transfer from the UE4 version. And for those who have been annoyed by the monstrous installation size: The client shrinks from around 120 GB to just 40 GB. That’s only a third of the previous space requirement. The UE4 version remains available for anyone who wants to keep it.

Chief Creative Officer Joel Bylos emphasized that they deliberately chose to offer the upgrade for free—as a thank-you to the community—rather than selling it as a separate product.

"We know that upgrades like this are often sold at an additional cost or released as a separate, expanded product. But we wanted to offer this for free to fans—past, present, and future—as an anniversary gift and a sign of our appreciation for their support.

We are incredibly proud of this game and the work our team has put into it over the years, and we want this upgrade to breathe new life and energy into the game for a long time to come."
