Dark Souls Remastered comes to PC and consoles on May 25th

Praise the Sun! The rumoured Dark Souls: Remastered version is launching later this year on PC and consoles with updated visuals. Launches May 25th.

After much waiting by the fans, Bandai Namco have finally confirmed the existence of a new Dark Souls Remastered, thanks to a Nintendo Direct Mini which shed light on a few titles coming to the console - including the Dark Souls remaster. Even more exciting, players won't have to wait that long as the remaster launches on May 25th for PC and consoles. The upcoming remaster will feature a number of key improvements as upscaled 4k, 60 FPS and a few other surprises too.

As you'd expect with the PC version it will be able to support even more pixels than the Switch version (which is locked at 1080p 30 FPS when docked). When the original Prepare to Die Edition for Dark Souls was released, many saw it as a poorly optimised console port and had to rely on modders to fix the game with a number of mods. For the remaster though it seems that they are trying to make sure the PC version is every bit as special as the console counterparts, with even more impressive lighting, updated textures, 4k resolution and of course the 60 FPS experience that many PC players expect. Along with the updated visuals, we can expect to get the same DLC content included in the Prepare to Die Edition such as the Artorias of the Abyss DLC.

Dedicated servers for multiplayer mode

Additionally the multiplayer mode for Dark Souls Remastered will seen an overhaul too, as From Software allow for up to 6 players to work together on dedicated servers. A feature that has been long requested for a while by the fans. While Dark Souls Remastered is not going to set the ground on fire with a massive amount of new content, it will include all the previously released DLC that was seen in the Prepare to Die Edition. Perhaps they might even take a look at the PVP areas and sprinkle some extra love into them.
