Destiny 2: Warmind Expansion coming May 8th, details coming April 24th
Bungie talks about upcoming content for the MMO Shooter Destiny 2, with a reveal about their next expansion Warmind coming April 24th and launching on May 8th. Other future content plans announced.
The next chapter in the Destiny 2 Story arrives next month with the Warmind Expansion launching on May 8th, which is also the same day as the upcoming Season 3 for the game that features a number of improvements to the game including Exotic Weapon Masterworks and Heroic Strike Modifiers. Bungie have revealed that we'll see a number of other changes to the game coming in the next few months with an updated development roadmap for the game available below. Changes will also be coming to the Raid Prestige system and the team will include the details for these changes in their next Development Roadmap.
Not much is known for the upcoming expansion, other than it'll send us to new places to meet new heroes and battle new enemies, with new loot and new activities for us to attempt. We won't have long to wait for our first glimpse of the Warming DLC as a reveal stream is coming April 24th, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.
You can also take a look at what's on the horizon with the brand new development roadmap, which begins with the Warmind expansion coming next month. After that we'll have a brand new Seasonal Event coming this summer, plus Bounties, PC Clan Chat and more. Then in September we'll see Season 4 begin with Gear Collections, Weapon Randomization and more content which is yet to be revealed.
Aside from the expansion on May 8th, Season 3 will also kick off on the same day and allow a new way of delivering content for the Crucible. Going forward Bungie wants to release all of the new maps that are being developed for the expansion as part of matchmaking, and the same will be true for the Curse of Osiris DLC. The goal behind making everything available to all players is to keep the community unified and not have to worry about owning a particular DLC in order to play with their friends in PVP. Every player will see new arenas in the matchmade playlists including Quickplay, Competitive, Trials of the Nine, Iron Banner, plus new weekly rotating playlists such as Mayhem and Rumble. Those wanting to compete in the upcoming Private Matches feature will be required to purchase each Expansion to have exclusive access to play with others.
Bungie has mentioned that as plans change they will be refreshing the current roadmap on a monthly basis. As you can see in the updated Post Launch Content plan below new end-game activities and new Crucible Maps for matchmaking will be coming to the game for all players.
Recently the game received the "Go Fast" update which buffed a number of weapons in the game to make it more accessible to players in PVE by changing fire rates, reload speeds and more. It also added in new 6v6 modes, changes to the gameplay and new rewards for players seeking more from the Nightfall Strikes.
There's still plenty that Bungie has yet to reveal, but with a roadmap throughout the year it's clear that there is much to look forward to if you're a fan of Destiny 2 or looking to make a return back to the game. Destiny 2's Warmind expansion is coming May 8th and will get a proper reveal on April 24th with a Twitch Stream.
