E3 2017 - Destiny 2 is coming to PC on October 24th, Beta in August
Activision finally announces the PC release for the action FPS sequel to Destiny, coming October 24th with a Beta coming in August. Console players can look for the game on September 6th.
Only recently did we get news that Destiny 2 would be making it's jump to PC, and now we have finally got confirmation of when players can expect to download it as the game launches on October 24th (or September 6th on console). This news comes after an uncertain period when the trailer dropped and rumours speculated we may be in for a long wait compared to the console version - but gamers only have to wait 7 weeks until they can join the rest of the Destiny 2 community. We're expecting the PC version to be big, with more advanced settings and being able to aim with a mouse should be a huge thing for players. While October may seem a long way off, a planned PC beta is coming in August that should ease the wait a little.
During the E3 Event, the team at Bungie delivered a brand new trailer for the game which gives a little backstory into the evil Dominus Ghaul and his Red Legion army. Making their attack on humanity’s Last City has left Guardians powerless and scattered. In their darkest hour it will be up to new heroes to rise to challenge Ghaul and take back our Light.
Speaking at E3 was Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision who confirmed the new release dates and finally unveiled when PC players can expect to get their hands on this hotly anticipated sequel on October 24th.
"Everyone always says that they can't wait for fans to get their hands on their game. But we really mean it. Destiny 2 looks so awesome, I'm thrilled to announce that we are moving the release date up to September 6th. We are also hard at work with our friends at Bungie optimising Destiny 2 for the PC, which we will be releasing in all its glory on October 24. And tonight, we are taking a deeper look at Ghaul, our villain in Destiny 2, who the world is going to love to hate. It's going to be a big week for Destiny fans."
Bungie CEO, Pete Parsons was also looking forward to the release of Destiny 2 and was happy that all their hard work would be seen by the community later this year.
"For all of us at the studio, this is a humbling year to see the vision of the Destiny universe welcome its sequel, and for us, the most exciting part is to see what stories this amazing community will tell once it is in their hands. We had an industry-defining moment at our Destiny 2 gameplay reveal in May, and at E3, the team is expanding hands-on to showcase a new subclass and will continue to highlight the vast variety of hands-on experiences that appeal to both solo and multiplayer gamers.”
Like the original Destiny, the sequel will be a first person action game set in a massive MMO style world which will set players on a journey to defend humanity from a new threat. The last safe city on Earth has fallen and is occupied by the villainous Dominus Ghaul and his Red Legion army.
Players will be able to create their own Guardian to fight back and help protect Earth from this deadly tyrant. You can decide on your class and abilities to use and master the weapons of your choice. Plus if you have never played Destiny before, the game will offer you a chance to start fresh and not require backstory or prior knowledge to the previous game!
Destiny 2 is coming to consoles on September 6th, and PC on October 24th.
