Not PS4 compatible?

When I pre ordered the game, I was expecting to play it, but i guess this game on Bethesda is not compatible with a ps4 controller? I had to download a software to make it recognize as an Xbox One controller. I am disappointed with this. If there is any way they can make an update to do so like Steam has done with their launcher. Anyone have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.
