DOOM: The Dark Ages - Review Roundup
The DOOM formula works again: Bethesda's DOOM: The Dark Ages wins the favor of the trade press. With just under two days left until release, let's see what the current ratings look like.
According to IGN, DOOM: The Dark Ages, which officially releases on May 15th but is already available to play with the Premium Edition, is a "Different Flavour of DOOM" when compared to the previous game DOOM Eternal which focused heavily on movement. This time around your boots are mostly on the ground as you shoot everything and block all forms of projectiles.
Reviewers praise the fluid gameplay, the clean mechanics, and especially the combat system, which now also gives you a shield. And that's what ultimately matters in a DOOM title - the quality of the action-packed battles. But the graphics, sound effects, and the metal music also receive positive reviews. The developers have to accept criticism for the dragon flight sequences.
