The 3dRudder controller offers locomotion control in DOOM VFR
ID Software's latest DOOM VFR is even easier to control with the 3dRudder controller, thanks to locomotion support. Allows more freedom when moving.
Earlier this month we finally got our chance to head into hell and face off against the demons of DOOM with the VR Edition DOOM VFR, however by default the game lacks free movement and only supports dash/teleport controls. Thanks to the team over at 3dRudder they have expanded the functionality of their latest foot controller hardware to offer even more freedom with the hardware.
Doom VFR was released on the 1st of December with teleportation-dash only, and we at 3dRudder have been working hard on introducing free locomotion with our foot-controller. And guess what? YES, you now can have foot-powered free locomotion in Doom VFR AND combine it with hand-driven actions to launch grenades and shoot big guns AND use teleportation to wipe out weakened enemies. This ability to multi-task like a superhero probably makes the 3dRudder the best motion controller for Doom VFR.
You can get an idea of how the game plays with the gameplay clip below:
Normally players would have to rely on teleporting to certain parts of the level, or dashing to avoid incoming enemy fire. With the 3dRudder you're given more ways to dodge enemies and play the game the way it was intended to be, Best of all, you can play sitting down! A plus for many gamers who hate having to stand with their VR controllers.
If you are interested in the game, you can have it for free on Gamesplanet.com by buying a 3dRudder this month as we've teamed up with the developers to offer gamers £18 Gamesplanet Credit by purchasing the hardware during December.
