Echoes of Aincrad: Play the Demo Now - Trailer with a Guide to the Weapon Systems
The action RPG Echoes of Aincrad, set in the Sword Art Online universe, has a playable demo on Steam. And a new trailer featuring some gameplay footage showcases the entire weapon system.
Bandai Namco and Game Studio have kicked things into high gear just before launch: To mark the start of Steam Next Fest, a demo for Echoes of Aincrad has gone live on Steam, along with a demo trailer. You can install the demo directly from our game’s shop page by clicking the “Play the Steam Demo” button. In addition, a new Weapon Overview trailer shows how the six weapon types feel in combat.
What's in Echoes of Aincrad?
This action RPG transports you to the floating castle of Aincrad from the SAO universe—but this time as a character you create yourself, rather than as Kirito. The twist: As a beta tester, you’re trapped in a VRMMORPG where virtual death could have real-world consequences. The gameplay features fast-paced real-time combat, leveling, weapon upgrades via a forging system, and an NPC partner with whom you’ll tackle quests in Echoes of Aincrad.
The weapons trailer showcases all six basic weapon types: sword & shield, two-handed sword, two-handed axe, rapier, dagger, and mace—each playstyle featuring its own skills and combo options. The more you use a weapon, the more techniques you’ll unlock.

Pre-order Bonus and Editions
Anyone who pre-orders Echoes of Aincrad will receive the Proto-Eluzidator Series Weapon Pack—a set of six weapon types plus a shield, complete with blueprints, inspired by the prototype of the Black Swordsman’s favorite blade—regardless of which edition they choose on Gamesplanet. A nice bonus to help you get started.
The Echoes of Aincrad Deluxe Edition includes the Starter Pack, the expansion DLC (scheduled through the end of 2026), and early access to Death Match mode—where a single death wipes your progress—in addition to the main game.
The Echoes of Aincrad Ultimate Edition takes it up a notch: In addition to the Deluxe Edition features, you’ll receive the “Unanswered//butterfly” bonus content app with exclusive artwork, soundtrack, and additional content, as well as the armor pack featuring Fluttering Robes and Fluttering Boots. Content that isn’t otherwise available in the main game. Especially cool: The full-length promotional animated film “Unanswered//butterfly” is included, which tells a story separate from the main narrative that runs for approximately 120 minutes.
