Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree: Second trailer for the story is as cryptic as expected

Almost three months after the first trailer for Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree, publisher Bandai Namco has released a story trailer. Beautiful images - but the story remains a bit of a mystery.

On 21 June 2024, developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco will release the first (and perhaps only) major expansion for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. A story trailer is now set to reveal more of the storyline, three months after the first trailer, but those familiar with FromSoftware may already have guessed that the story won't simply be presented on a silver platter. But whether you're interested in the story or just new scenes from Shadow of the Erdtree, the new trailer is definitely worth watching.

Light into the dark - what's it all about now?

The trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree talks about seduction, betrayal and fateful encounters. Which don't necessarily have a positive effect on peace in the Interlands. War breaks out once again, formidable enemies walk the fiery paths under the command of Messmer the Impaler. And already ‘everything’ is in flames. It is ‘the tyranny of Messmer's flame’, the video says. And he is already busy staking, the nasty Messmer.

Miquella then sees everything as lost. An off-screen voice, apparently a fan of Miquella's, apparently now sees the time has come for new soldiers who can hopefully put an end to the chaos. Will you join the endeavour?
