Endless Legend 2: The Sandshapers are coming with the 1.0 release – here’s how the faction plays

Shortly before the 1.0 release of Endless Legend 2, developer Amplitude is introducing the final major faction to mark the end of Early Access: the Sandshapers, a people with buildings made of sand and glass and a great deal of resentment.

Long before the Endless brought the oceans to Saiadha, the Sandshapers erected colossal towers in the middle of the desert. The great flood swept away their civilisation – all that remained were ruins and a steadfast determination to reclaim everything. Visually, they are among the most otherworldly peoples in Endless Legend 2: angular silhouettes, unnaturally shaped limbs and structures made of sand and glass that should, in theory, defy every law of physics.

Terraforming as a Survival Strategy

In-game, the Sandshapers are expansionists through and through. They transform conquered territories into sandy plains, which, whilst not particularly valuable to other factions, provide the Sandshapers themselves with food and resources. The ruins of their former cities play a central role in this: whoever restores them can cast powerful ‘Wishes’, including terraforming itself.

In combat, the Sandshapers rely on tenacity and tactical manoeuvres. Their ‘Stone Stance’ ability deals area damage to adjacent enemies at the end of the turn, whilst units such as the flying Blackwind or the teleporting Shard ensure mobility on the battlefields of Endless Legend 2.
