Esoteric Ebb is available now, and RPG fans should definitely keep it on their radar. The isometric CRPG is already gathering “very positive” reviews and is said to be a real blast.

With Esoteric Ebb, an unusual isometric role-playing game enters the scene, combining classic CRPG virtues with TTRPG mechanics. Publisher Raw Fury accompanies the release with a launch trailer. In Esoteric Ebb, you take on the role of a cleric specializing in esoteric incidents, operating in service of the government. The story takes you from level 1 to 6 through a post-arcanepunk fantasy world and confronts you with a sensitive case: five days before the first election, a teahouse explodes in the heart of the city. You are tasked with uncovering the truth — and initially wake up in a morgue, surrounded by corpses, rotten apples, and a zombie.

The adventure focuses on branching dialogues with countless solution paths. Dice rolls determine success, failure, or embarrassing missteps — including internal debates among your own character traits, which regularly chime into conversations. You negotiate with factions, explore the streets, towers, and tunnels of Norvik, use reality-altering magic, and solve quests with open-ended outcomes. Violence is handled in turn-based fashion through dice rolls.
