PC version of GTA 5 gets new features previously only available for consoles

Rockstar is giving the PC version of GTA 5 an update on March 4, adding features from the console versions of GTA Online. Here’s an overview of the most important changes.

It’s not every day that features come to consoles first and are only later added to an already existing PC version. But that’s exactly what’s happening with Grand Theft Auto 5: On March 4, Rockstar plans to roll out a new upgrade package for all players. The PC version of GTA 5 will receive new and improved graphics options, shorter loading times, and more.

Previously, these features and content were only available on the PS5 and Xbox versions of GTA Online. On March 4, 2025, the latest vehicles and performance upgrades from Hao's Special Works, wildlife encounters, and access to purchasing a GTA+ membership will also become available in GTA Online for PC gamers. And best of all, it's free for all GTA 5 owners.

GTA 5 on PC from March 4 with these new features

• Enjoy a range of new vehicles and upgrades from Hao’s Special Works (HSW), pushing your motorized performance to the next level. Test your driving skills with premium test rides, HSW races, and time trials.

• Encounter wild animals throughout Southern San Andreas and take photos of them to participate in the daily wildlife photography challenge and earn new rewards.

• PC players can now sign up for a GTA+ membership and enjoy exclusive benefits in GTA Online and beyond.

• Track your criminal empire with the Career Progress feature, monitoring every step of your rise across all GTA Online updates.

• A new main menu design makes it easier to access everything GTA Online has to offer. New players will also benefit from a streamlined user experience for a faster start and a $4,000,000 GTA$ bonus to help purchase properties, vehicles, and other essential items when starting their criminal career as a CEO, arms dealer, nightclub owner, or biker in the Career Builder.

• New anti-cheat measures and a proactive voice chat moderation system are coming. Because let’s be honest—there’s nothing more annoying than loudmouth cheaters in GTA Online.

These five vehicles are coming with the upgrade

• Coil Cyclone II (Supercar)
  
• Imponte Arbiter GT (Muscle Car)
  
• Karin S95 (Sports Car)
  
• Weaponized Pegassi Ignus (Supercar)
  
• Pfister Astron Custom (SUV)
  

Additionally, Hao will fine-tune some premium vehicles for even better top performance. More details can be found in the official patch notes.

All technical improvements for the PC version of GTA 5

Not everyone will be able to use all of the new options after the PC version update, as some depend on hardware. However, most players can look forward to the following changes:

• Ray-tracing features exclusively available on PC, including ambient occlusion, global illumination, and ray-traced shadows and reflections (previously only on consoles).

• Support for AMD FSR1 & FSR3 and NVIDIA DLSS 3.

• Faster loading times with SSD and DirectStorage support on compatible devices.

• Improved support for higher resolutions, aspect ratios, and frame rates.

• DualSense® controller support with adaptive triggers.

• Enhanced audio with Dolby Atmos support and improved fidelity for dialogue, cutscenes, and music.
