The gates of hell are open: Hell is Us with launch trailer for release
To hell with massive open-world games: Hell is Us has (almost) everything a good action adventure needs.
With Hell is Us, Nacon ventures into an extraordinary action adventure that deliberately defies genre conventions. Players take on the role of Rémi, a peacekeeper who returns to the civil war-torn country of Hadea to track down his parents. But the country is not only ravaged by conflict, but also by a mysterious “calamity” that has spawned bizarre creatures.
Exploring Hadea does not follow the classic open-world formula: you can forget about quest markers. Only a compass is available at the beginning to help you find your way around the game. Orientation is provided by environmental clues, conversations with NPCs, and subtle audiovisual signals. This concept forces you to remain alert at all times and makes every discovery meaningful. At the same time, however, it also requires more patience, research, and exploration than usual action titles.
In battle, Rémi faces faceless creatures that can only be defeated using archaic melee weapons such as swords or polearms. Your arsenal in Hell is Us is supplemented by a drone that performs tactical and narrative functions. The combat system is reminiscent of Soulslike structures, but is more accessible and flexible thanks to healing mechanics and relics, making it fortunately less demanding.
The game impresses with its atmospheric blend of realistic war settings, surreal monsters, and oppressive and truly fitting sound design. The story remains largely mysterious, symbolic in places, raising questions about war, identity, and humanity. Want a taste? Here's the launch trailer for the game, which is out now. On Gamesplanet, you can purchase Hell is Us with a 15% discount as a Standard Edition or Deluxe Edition.
