Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has a release date for its Early Access launch
After a hiatus of more than ten years, Heroes of Might & Magic is making a comeback: Olden Era has been given an early access launch date on Steam – the trailer confirms 30 April 2026.
Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era is a turn-based strategy game and a prequel to the legendary HoMM series, which has had a significant influence on the strategy genre since the 90s. The game takes you to a previously unexplored region of the fantasy world of Enroth: the continent of Jadame, which was mentioned in earlier instalments but was never playable. You explore the map with your heroes, build cities, assemble armies of mythical creatures and face off against opponents in tactical turn-based battles on hexagonal grids, either solo or in multiplayer.
A new trailer has now announced the launch date for Early Access. It’s set to kick off on 30 April.
What the Early Access version of HoMM: Olden Era will offer at launch
A substantial package will be waiting for you when it launches on 30 April 2026:
- Six playable factions: Temple, Dungeon, Schism, Grove, Necropolis and Hive – each with their own units, heroes and special abilities
- In-game tutorial for newcomers and returning players
- Act 1 of the campaign – further acts will follow with the full release
- Pre-made scenarios with standalone stories; more will be added during the Early Access phase
- Three game modes (Classic, Single Hero, Arena) – each available for solo and multiplayer
- Matchmaking, rankings and leaderboards for all three multiplayer modes
- Random map generator with a variety of templates for high replay value
- Hotseat mode for taking turns playing on the same PC
- Puzzle challenges for in-between
- Preview version of the map editor for creating your own adventures
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will be available on Gamesplanet in time for the Early Access launch.
