Mass Effect Andromeda - 4k Gameplay, Day 1 Patch and more details emerge!
Prepare for launch, the countdown is fast approaching to visit a new galaxy later this month.
While we eagerly await the next entry in the Mass Effect series later this month with the release of Andromeda on March 23rd (or 21st if you're in North America), more details have emerged about the game itself and what players can expect when it finally launches into our lives. IGN have managed to get a hands on look at the upcoming title with a new 17 minute gameplay walkthrough (which can also be viewed in a gorgeous 4k resolution). During the gameplay we can see Peebee's Loyalty Mission as we travel to a lava planet (a bit like Mustafar from Star Wars) in an attempt to locate something. We also get our first look at how gameplay will evolve during missions and how you'll be able to swap to different profiles on the fly to try out new ways to do objectives.
We've also heard that the game will not feature any level cap so you'll be able to play multiple times in order to unlock all the skills in the game (should you wish). There will also be a day 1 patch available, though it's unclear what that will contain.
Sex and Romace
It wouldn't be a Mass Effect game without a little romance in the air and Andromeda is no different, it's recently been revealed that you'll be having sexy times with various characters with the game's rating being bumped up to M+. BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn spoke on Twitter about the game being a "Softcore Space Porn", but has recently clarified the statement.
Sorry, I gave the wrong impression. We have strong characters, great gameplay, romances, and more, all dealing with mature themes."
Additionally it's been revealed by Creative Director Mac Walters that planets you explore will have their own unqiue stories that players can enjoy at their own pace.
"So we want to have high stakes, and there are high stakes in the sense that if you don’t succeed in your role, that’s it for humanity, and potentially every other species that came from the Milky Way in Andromeda. But we also don’t have to go right to raising the stakes to - you know, two hours in 'hey, you’ve got this best friend and this best friend, which one do you want to die and which one do you want to survive?"
There's still no word on the upcoming beta for the game's Multiplayer mode, but as we're 3 weeks from launch we'd imagine it should be any day now and as yet we're still missing concrete details on what we can expect. What we do know is that the game will feature customisation (possibly in the same form as the single player) and that we can expect plenty of jumping enemies with swords to slay ;)
In case you missed it the System Specs have been unveiled and you'll need at least a 64bit OS to play with, something fans may want to look at if they're system is only using a 32bit OS. The game will only require a 2GB Video Card, but you'll still need 8GB RAM in order to play. We're not sure if they'll be an "Ultra" set of specs being released later, but with the game's Frostbite 3 engine it's possible that you could push the game even further with a higher end graphics card (or the new 1080 Ti when it's out).
