Capcom has released the launch trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection ahead of the turn-based JRPG release on March 13th 2026.

Shortly before the release, Capcom showed the launch trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection as part of Capcom Spotlight. It's all or nothing in the Monster Hunter universe: two Rathalos twins, an impending apocalypse, and two kingdoms on the brink of tearing each other apart. Welcome to the most dramatic chapter in the Stories series.

Not an action game – a real role-playing game

If you're now thinking reflexively about great sword combos and headbutts on wyverns, you've taken a wrong turn. Monster Hunter Stories is a standalone RPG series in the Monster Hunter universe that takes a completely different approach to gameplay than the main series. Instead of real-time action, you can expect a turn-based combat system with tactical depth – it's more JRPG than hunting fever.

You take on the role of a Rider, the only Rathalos rider in the Kingdom of Azuria. Instead of slaying monsters, the aim is to build bonds with them, raise so-called Monsties, and fight alongside them. Think Pokémon – but in a different setting with more story substance.

The plot revolves around the conflict between the kingdoms of Azuria and Vermeil, while a mysterious environmental disaster called Crystal Encroachment threatens the world. A rare egg hatches two Rathalos twins, of all things – an omen that reopens 200-year-old wounds. Together with Princess Eleanor of Vermeil, you set out to uncover the truth behind the crisis and prevent war.
