CES 2025: The Lenovo Legion Go S competes with the Steam Deck with SteamOS
Lenovo is continuing what Valve initiated with the Steam Deck. At CES 2025, the manufacturer presented the first mobile PC console that runs SteamOS (in addition to the Steam Deck), the Lenovo Legion Go S. It can also optionally run Windows 11. What Lenovo's PC handheld offers.
The Lenovo Legion Go S has a compact and lightweight design, weighing approx. 730g, making it ideal for gaming on the go. The grip of the new PC handheld has been optimised for maximum comfort so that gaming remains comfortable even during longer gaming sessions. Specifically, the Lenovo Legion Go S measures the following dimensions: 2.26cm x 12.7cm x 29.9cm (H x W x D). The casing houses an 8-inch touchscreen with WQXGA resolution (1920×1200 pixels), a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 500 nits.

Under the bonnet, the Legion Go S is equipped with the latest AMD Ryzen Z2 or Z1 Extreme processors and the mobile gaming device will have 32 GB LPDDR5X2 RAM with a clock speed of 7500Mhz and up to 1 TB PCIe SSD storage on board.
In terms of battery life, the manufacturer promises 55.5 Whr with the 3-cell battery. Hours of gaming will therefore be possible and the 65 watt fast charging function allows the battery to be recharged to 85% within an hour. In terms of connectivity, the Legion Go S is well equipped with Wi-Fi 6E for a super-fast internet connection, Bluetooth 5.4, two USB 4 ports and a microSD card reader. All in all, according to the technical data, as a SteamOS device it is better than the Steam Deck from Valve. We are eagerly awaiting the first detailed test reports.
You can already order the Windows 11 version of the Legion Go S at a starting price from €629.01 on the Lenovo shop page. The SteamOS version, on the other hand, will be available in May 2025 and has been announced at a price of 499.99 US dollars. Let's wait and see what the new SteamOS wonder will have for a Euro price.
