No Man's Sky: Swarm Update featuring epic swarm battles and a new expedition
With Update 6.4, “The Swarm,” No Man's Sky is getting a limited-time expedition, a massive boss named “Hive of Glass,” and plenty of new space battles.
No Man's Sky is the open-world sci-fi exploration game from Hello Games that sends you, as a traveler in a procedurally generated universe with billions of planets, on a journey of exploration, trade, survival, and space combat. Since its rocky launch in 2016, the game has gained tremendous depth with countless free updates—and “The Swarm” takes things up a notch once again.
A new threat plagues the galaxy
Update 6.4 unleashes a swarm of agile combat ships and pits you against a massive boss enemy, the “Hive of Glass,” which lurks just above planetary surfaces and swiftly dismembers unwary pilots. To defeat it, you must maneuver through a deadly laser wheel and hit its core—no walk in the park.
Expedition with Three Rival Teams
The focus of the No Man's Sky update is the limited-time expedition “The Swarm”: The entire community will be divided into three teams, each representing an aspect of the so-called “Traveller Soul”—Royal, Sage, and Weaver. All teams must work together to construct the Prismatic Core to stop the invasion, but only the most valuable team will be permanently immortalized in the Space Anomaly. So team spirit meets healthy competition.
New rewards and enemies
You can loot defeated Swarm ships on planets to obtain Swarmer alloys. These can sometimes be used to craft the six-piece Direwasp armor set or the Direwasp jetpack. The Swarm update also introduces a new rifle multitool. Planets are also teeming with small but treacherous ground enemies that guard the wreckage of fallen ships.
If you don’t own No Man’s Sky yet: We’re currently offering the game on Gamesplanet with a 67% discount for a limited time—a great moment to dive right in instead of running away from the Swarm.
