Onimusha: Way of the Sword: Lore Trailer Explains the Mythology
In the new trailer “The Legend of Onimusha,” Capcom lays out the mythological foundations of Way of the Sword—including the Oni, Genma, and the legendary gauntlet.
A little over two weeks before the PC release, Capcom is treating us to another teaser: A new video for Onimusha: Way of the Sword delves deeper into the series’ mythology and explains the five central pillars of the franchise.
At the heart of it all is the eternal conflict between light and darkness, from which a chosen hero always emerges as a bulwark against chaos. The video also explains the Genma—demonic creatures from the depths of hell—as well as the Oni themselves—once powerful rulers of the underworld, now weakened and in search of strong human allies.
More important than you might think—the gauntlet forged by the Oni. It’s what makes it possible for the protagonist, Musashi, in Way of the Sword to stand up to the demon horde in the first place. But since a gauntlet alone doesn’t make a true Onimusha, and sword-fighting masters don’t just fall from the sky, that’s where your skills come into play.
