Outbreak Island offers a mix of survival, exploration and investigation on a strange and hostile island, where bizarre monsters also make life difficult for you.

Following in your father's footsteps, you travel to Outbreak Island to uncover the secrets of a failed experiment. There are two main objectives: to find your family's farm and survive in an isolated and hostile environment while investigating the events that have befallen the island.

This dual challenge sets the tone for the game: you're not just playing to build shelter and grow tomatoes, but also to discover the truth behind the strange mystical beam that reactivates abandoned equipment and awakens monstrous creatures every night.

A central element of Outbreak Island's gameplay is the day-night cycle and its effects on the island: the day is dedicated to exploration and gathering resources, while the night unleashes waves of monsters and strange energy that you must resist.

This alternation creates constant tension: what you do during the day serves to prepare you for the unleashing of the night. And time becomes a strategic factor: you have to work quickly and plan efficiently. The island is large and diverse, encompassing forests, swamps, ruins, underground laboratories and abandoned infrastructure, some of which are very far apart.

In Outbreak Island, you can use vehicles to get around, repair and upgrade them to explore the area over long distances. What sets Outbreak Island apart from some ‘pure’ survival games is the integration of an investigative dimension. Using a camera, you observe behaviour and collect evidence to find out what happened and reconstruct the story of events.

The game is released today, October 28th in Steam Early Access and already has an ambitious roadmap for further development.

As in Michel Houellebecq's book published in 2005, Outbreak Island promises to explore themes such as isolation, survival and the search for meaning in a world in ruins. An experiment in which the island is simultaneously a refuge, a laboratory and a mirror of human fears.
