PEAK: The ‘Roots’ update for the fun co-op climbing game is here

The new ‘Roots’ update for PEAK is live and brings a fresh biome to the game. The Tropics will be removed for the time being. According to the patch notes, Roots will remain active until November 17th, after which both biomes will switch randomly. This means that each run will start with different conditions and remain less predictable.

Several new items have been unlocked around the new biome in PEAK. These include eleven new badges with matching cosmetics, as well as new items that appear mainly in Roots, including the daily changing ‘Shroomberries’, ‘Fortified Milk’, ‘Cloud Fungus’ and ‘Bounce Fungus’. In addition, there are new items that can appear in all biomes, namely the ‘Rescue Claw,’ the ‘Checkpoint Flag,’ and the ‘mystical Book of Bones.’ There are also eight new emotes.

Cooking has also been revamped in PEAK: Many non-food items now react sensibly to heat, extra stamina from cooked utility items has been removed, and poisonous berries become edible when cooked.

Co-op play is also running more smoothly again. A problem with Steam invitations has been fixed – inviting and joining now works directly via the platform again, without any detours.

Shortly after release, Hotfix 1.42a was also released, which corrects minor balance issues. Overall, ‘Roots’ brings improvements through the new biome and additional content that are directly noticeable in PEAK.
