Pillars of Eternity 2: Speedrunner beats the game in 26 minutes
Obsidian's latest RPG sequel Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire has been beaten by speedrunner Onin in 26 minutes thanks to certain perks.
Players have been busy spending 40+ hours on the main game Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, with some finding everything there is to find in the game. There are also some who have managed to beat the game and have found ways to speedrun the game, such is the case with speedrunner Onin who has managed to beat Obsidian's latest adventure in 26 minutes and 25 seconds. Thanks in part to the "blessings" he received by beating the game previously, this allowed for a higher level at the start and items available in your inventory (think of it like a New Game +), as well as stats from previous runs. All of this was done on the Paths of the Damned difficulty.
Onin played a rogue for his run and managed to stealth his way through most of the fights, thus giving him a slight advantage to the time it takes to complete the game. However the companion Eder isn't helpful by being sneaky, so he had to be killed off at the start of the game to make it easier. He also used various techniques to speed up the cutscenes and duplicate gold in order to reach the 105,000 gold needed to buy a ship in order to progress. You can take a look at his speedrun below (with obvious spoiler warnings for those who have not beat the game yet).
Spoilers Ahead!
It's a nice run but we'd recommend enjoying the game first and then attempting speed runs! To pull off these feats you'd need to get the perks from beating the game anyway.
