Is Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC? Take Two calls PC platform important, but doesn't confirm PC version

Take Two downplays any hint of the open world action western Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC, but believes the platform is important to the company. Will it ever appear on PC?

Ever since the reveal of Red Dead Redemption 2 fans have been eagerly awaiting news on whether or not a PC version is on the cards. During an investors call, Take Two revealed that the PC platform is still a rich resource for them and that they are committed to bringing great titles to the platform - however they're still not confirming the existence of their upcoming open world action sequel Red Dead Redemption 2.

Company President Karl Slatoff believes the PC platform is important for the company and they are committed to bringing a range of titles to it, but did not specify what we may expect from Rockstar.

Some titles are actually heavily weighted to PC, for example, Civilization and XCOM. The great news is that the PC market is vibrant for us. It’s a great market for us. It’s a big market. It’s a core market in consumers that are highly engaged. It’s a predominantly digital market, which also removes friction in terms of ongoing engagement with a consumer. So, for us, the PC market as a company is very important and very exciting and something we focus on.

CEO Strauss Zelnick was approached to clarify whether we may see Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, to which he responded with the following statement:

Any updates about any of our titles will come from our labels.

Could this mean we'll see Rockstar announce Red Dead 2 for PC in the near future? When GTA 5 came to PC, it was almost 2 years after the release of the 360/PS3 versions launched in 2013 so it's possible we may have to wait until 2020 at the earliest. Unless Rockstar are secretly working on it at the same time and are ready to drop it next year as well - remember this engine is being used for PS4/Xbox One and it's not going to be hard to port that to PC (unlike the original GTA V) which had to make improvements upon when porting).

Red Dead Redemption 2 is slated for a 2018 release on Xbox One and PS4, will we ever see it make the jump to PC? We'd hope so and would be a great chance for the PC crowd to experience Rockstar's open world western for themselves. Hell bring it to PC with the original for good measure and you'll have a goldmine waiting for you.

While you wait to hear any news on a PC version for Red Dead 2, you can look forward to the upcoming PC Open World Western Wild West Online which is due out later this year.
