Ruiner 2: Gameplay Trailer Reveals the Shell System in Detail
Reikon Games has released a gameplay trailer for Ruiner 2, showcasing how the new Shell system powers the cyberpunk action sequel.
About a decade after the cult shooter Ruiner, Reikon Games is back with concrete gameplay details. The new trailer for Ruiner 2 explains how the eponymous Shell system works in practice. That sounds like a major upgrade for everyone who wore out their controllers back in Rengkok.
The Shell System – Your Build, Your Weapon
At the heart of the game is the Shell Roster: You defeat enemy bosses and take over their combat bodies as playable Shells. You can take up to three of them with you at once and switch between them in the heat of battle. Each Shell comes with its own abilities, skill tree, and equipment slots—if you combine the right synergies between your Shells, you’ll unleash combos that no single character could pull off.
Each Shell has its own active skill tree for tactical abilities, and there’s also a passive tree in Ruiner 2 that affects your entire roster. Gear with different rarity levels changes how individual Shells perform. Players who complete Campaign Mode can let loose in scalable Wastelands and dungeons—the best items are only available on the highest difficulty levels.
