“Shadow of the Road”: The Torn World of Bakumatsu-Era Japan in the Trailer for “Journey”
Shadow of the Road: Publisher Owlcat Games and developer Another Angle Games showcase locations from the upcoming tactical RPG in a new “Journey” trailer—a playable demo is already available on Steam, although no release date has been set yet.
Publisher Owlcat Games and developer Another Angle Games have released a new trailer for Shadow of the Road. In addition to tactical combat scenes, the video—titled “Journey”—also showcases the environments of an alternate 19th century, where weathered temples and steam-powered machines coexist. Steampunk in an ancient Japan setting? Why not.
In Shadow of the Road, you take control of a group of warriors led by the ronin Satoru and Akira, who have been tasked by the shogun’s master spy with protecting a mysterious boy with dangerous powers. As a strategist, you guide your team through turn-based battles and make decisions that influence relationships and the course of the story. A specific release date for PC has not yet been announced, but the target is 2026. If you want to get a taste of the game, a free demo is already available to play on Steam.
