Shapez 2 leaves Early Access with Version 1.0: Includes numerous new features
The factory-building game Shapez 2 celebrates its 1.0 release with a new game mode, modding support, 83 achievements, and a major visual overhaul.
Shapez 2 is a top-down factory-building game in which you extract, cut, rotate, stack, paint, and assemble geometric shapes into increasingly complex structures. As an operator of Vortex LTD, you build your way up from a single asteroid to a gigantic, multi-tiered space factory—connected by space trams and optimized conveyor belts. Enemies? None. Time limit? None. Shapez 2 is pure factory Zen.
What’s in the 1.0 release?
This update is the biggest in the game’s history so far—more than 3,700 commits since the last major version speak for themselves. New to the game is Manufacture Mode: Instead of short-term production goals, the focus here is on building permanent large-scale factories. You trade shapes at Trade Stations and work long-term to get your Vortex Platform up and running again. A mode for everyone who gets teary-eyed at the word “scaling.”
The Classic Mode remains, but has been enhanced with four new milestones and fresh designs. Also new is a Global Speed Upgrade, which combines the previously separate speed upgrades for cutting, stacking, and painting, resulting in more stable machine rates.
More Content, Better Graphics, Mod Support
83 achievements are now waiting to be unlocked, including some hidden ones for die-hard factory nerds. Added to this are modding support via the Steam Workshop, new visual effects for piping and cable structures, a revamped tutorial, an expanded Codex system with over 150 pages, and more than 500 fixed bugs. Unfortunately, old save files from Early Access are not compatible—blueprints, however, are, but should be saved again.
