Launch trailer for the perfect start: Stellar Blade is also a brilliant action hit on PC
PC gamers had to wait almost a year for the PC adaptation of the console hit Stellar Blade. Good news: The PC version is also an all-round successful action-fest - which even outshines the original.
The good thing about games coming to PC later after an exclusive phase on console? The development team has time to add additional features to the PC version and gameplay adjustments have already been made. But that's it for the advantages, because as we all know, gamers don't like platform exclusives at all (looking at you, Death Stranding 2). But it's nice that PlayStation is at least honouring its promise to port console titles more frequently and sometimes even earlier. With Stellar Blade, the promise is being kept: Developer Shift Up Corporation is delivering the PC adaptation from today, just under a year after the PS5 release. According to initial tests, it's a brilliant, technically smooth implementation with useful PC features. Current Steam rating average after 3,000 reviews: "Overwhelmingly Positive".
In Stellar Blade, you slip into the body-hugging suit of Eve, whose look is somewhere between Nier: Automata, Bayonetta and well-known K-pop celebrities, making her blades and pronounced curves dance. But don't worry, because Stellar Blade has material for several hours of action fun under its beautifully painted bonnet, and that's what matters in the end. The story campaign alone will keep you entertained for around 20 hours. Side quests and other tasks will keep you busy for an estimated 50 hours. Soulslike gameplay shouldn't put you off - you can see it here in the launch trailer.
In the distant future, the Naytibas have devastated our beautiful Earth and Eve, as part of an elite commando, is tasked with nothing less than reclaiming the blue planet. After a failed first strike, a mysterious saviour named Adam picks her up. Adam & Eve then set off not only to rescue Eve's comrades, but also to complete the important mission.
Stellar Blade cuts a similarly good figure on the PC as the battle-hardened ladies. New features include support for widescreen monitors, Chinese and Japanese voice output with lip-sync support, an open frame rate limit, performance technologies such as DLSS 4, DLAA and AMD FSR 3, optional HD textures, as well as cosmetic extras such as the new costumes, glasses and earrings.
