All you need to know about Street Fighter 6

As the legendary fighting game series returns on 2 June, let's take a look at what we know about Street Fighter 6 in our recap guide.

What is Street Fighter 6?

A true icon of the fighting game, Street Fighter lets you choose your character and go head-to-head with a roster of celebrities including Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Cammy, Guile... Let's not forget the newcomers, like the French judoka Manon or the imposing gladiatrix Marisa. Totalling in 18 playable characters. Capcom has put a lot of effort in its sixth episode, and promises to avoid the difficulties of its predecessor's launch. They're confident enough of the quality of the work they've done to bring you a playable demo of Ryu and Luke.

Perfect for getting to grips with the Drive system. The Drive system includes an attack (Drive Impact), a dodge (Drive Parry) and a dash (Drive Rush) to cancel a normal. The same resource is used for EX moves, now called Overdrive, and other Drive mechanics. You start the game with your Drive bar at full capacity, but you'll need to use it wisely and not empty it completely, otherwise you'll go into burnout.

And what about the controls? three kick and three punch buttons, depending on power behind them? Not necessarily. The Japanese publisher is offering the legacy settings, but also modern controls to simplify combinations, and even a dynamic mode to provide automatic assistance and deliver the moves best suited to the situation. So everyone will be able to get to grips with the title, from seasoned competitors to beginners wishing to discover the franchise.

For game modes, count on the classic 'Fighting Ground' where you'll have access to all the training, online, local or computer game modes you could hope for. The single-player 'World Tour' story mode lets you create your avatar and customise not only his appearance but also his fighting style by using the moves of various characters. Finally, the 'Battle Hub' lets you use your avatar to meet other players and challenge them in 'Fighting Ground' modes.
