Sudden Strike 5: Lots of Gameplay in the Preview Livestream and Demo Now Playable

Sudden Strike 5: Lots of Gameplay in the Preview Livestream and Demo Now Playable

The first developer stream for Sudden Strike 5 features extensive gameplay from the now-available Steam demo — including the Monte Cassino mission and new features.

With a commentary-filled preview livestream, the team at Kalypso Media has presented very detailed gameplay from Sudden Strike 5 for the first time, while explaining the individual scenes. As the basis for the footage, video producer Gordon used the demo version, which you can now use yourself to jump into the campaign (simply click “Play Steam Demo” on our product page). Don’t worry: the entire demo is not shown — only selected parts — so you will still have plenty of gameplay left to try on your own.

The showcased mission takes place around Monte Cassino from the Allied perspective. The objective is to capture the city, secure key strategic locations such as the train station, main square, and a mountain-top monastery, while controlling river crossings and supply routes. Alternatively, Western and Soviet units are also available in the demo.

Several new systems were explained during the stream: Commanders come with different specializations such as Offensive, Defensive, or Tactical. A doctrine system allows you to unlock and upgrade bonuses, for example for tanks, reconnaissance, or support units. The available maps and points expand as you progress through the Sudden Strike 5 campaign.

On the battlefield, bridge construction, repair vehicles, supply management, and targeted artillery support play a central role. Captured train stations enable reinforcements to arrive by rail, while radio installations unlock additional units. Also new is a flexible grouping feature that lets you organize formations more quickly.

Sudden Strike 5 will launch with a 25-mission campaign featuring more than 300 units, as well as PvP battles. If you don’t want to wait until then: the free demo is now available on Steam — including the playable Monte Cassino mission.
