The Blood of Dawnwalker: Gameplay footage showcases a vampire open world with developer commentary

During the Road to Launch event, developer Rebel Wolves unveiled new, guided gameplay footage for The Blood of Dawnwalker—along with an officially confirmed release date: September 3, 2026.

In an approximately one-hour showcase, developer Rebel Wolves followed up on the previous story trailer by showing fresh gameplay footage for The Blood of Dawnwalker—and had a few surprises in store. So you don’t have to watch the entire stream recording, we’re sharing the video summary here featuring the gameplay shown, which still includes 13 minutes of in-game footage. This dark fantasy action RPG takes you back to the 14th century: Europe is in the grip of war and the plague, and it is precisely in this chaos that vampires emerge from the shadows. You play as Coen, a young man who, as a so-called Dawnwalker, is neither fully human nor fully vampire—and it is precisely this dual nature that shapes the entire gameplay.

The new footage shows Coen exploring a medieval mountain region: climbing, scouting, marking targets. And then comes the surprise—at night, our Dawnwalker transforms into a wolf to move faster. By day, you fight with sword and magic like a human; by night, you unleash vampire powers. Each form has its own strengths and weaknesses, and blood is a scarce resource, whether from a deer or the nearest human enemy.

In The Blood of Dawnwalker, the clock is always ticking: every quest you accept lets time slip away. Who you save, who you sacrifice—that shapes the story. The open world, with its forests, swamps, and ruins, invites you to explore, but it won’t wait for you. If you were a fan of character depth and world design in The Witcher 3: No wonder—some of the Rebel Wolves developers come from there, and it’s clearly evident in the game. We’re excited!
