The Darkest Files: Uncovering Nazi crimes - access to files from March 25th
In The Darkest Files, you take on the role of a public prosecutor named Esther Katz in the 1950s and bring Nazi crimes to justice. The investigative-legal adventure game will be released on March 25th and brings serious history to gamers in a playful way.
Inspired by real cases, The Darkest Files from Berlin-based indie studio Paintbucket Games (also known for Through the Darkest of Times) is based on the work of Fritz Bauer, a Hessian Attorney General who investigated Nazi crimes in the 1950s. The developer studio once again delivers an entertaining gaming experience that is both educational and raises historical awareness.
Uncovering the past - a game with historical reference
As young prosecutor Esther Katz, you investigate unsolved war crimes, question witnesses and bring perpetrators to justice. The game combines detective gameplay with narrative decisions that influence the course of the trial. The launch trailer for The Darkest Files gives an impression of this: interrogations full of suspense, insights into dark archive material, Nazis who obstruct your investigations. Interactive investigations with historical documents make the game something special. The important thing is to bring the perpetrators to justice.
A free demo is already playable on Steam. The full release will follow on March 25th. Anyone interested in historical criminal cases should keep this challenging work by Paintbucket Games on their radar - The Darkest Files will also be available on Gamesplanet from its release.
