The Sinking City: Now available as a remastered version powered by Unreal Engine 5
Frogwares has completely reworked Lovecraft's horror game The Sinking City on the basis of Unreal Engine 5. Better lighting effects, finer textures and more: This is new in The Sinking City Remastered.
Frogware's The Sinking City enjoys a high reputation not only among Lovecraft fans. On the east coast of the United States, you are a private detective in the town of Oakmont and you unravel the town's dark secrets. Are the residents possessed? Is it you yourself? Is everyone just insane now? To find out, the horror adventure rarely takes you by the hand - you live with your decisions and enjoy a lot of freedom of action in The Sinking City between mysterious events, weird (and very interesting) townspeople and nasty monstrous creatures.
Now the remastered version of The Sinking City is here - as a free upgrade for owners of the original game, by the way - and with the switch to the Unreal Engine 5 engine, at least the graphical flaws should have been ironed out. The Sinking City Remastered shines in new splendour, spruced up with the finest UE5 polish. In the launch trailer, the developers use comparisons between old and new to illustrate why the remaster is now a new experience, especially visually.
The revised reflections and the general new lighting mood in the game are quite clear, but the higher-resolution 4K textures and more authentic properties of objects also make the remaster fit for a contemporary appearance in 2025. The photo mode is also new in The Sinking City Remastered - so don't be afraid to hold the camera up to the new UE5 graphics. New upscaling functions (Upscaling), FSR, DLSS and TRS make it easier to adapt the remastered version to the performance of your PC. So that the performance does not fall under the wheels of the visual upgrade. But the remaster doesn't just include visual adjustments. Frogwares has also revised the controls, balancing and combat system.
