The Surge - Overview for ASUS Join the Republic Event

The future is here, robots stand in the way and it's up to you to fight against them with powerful melee weapons as well as a handy Exo-Suit.

What is The Surge?

In The Surge you will play as as an employee of CREO, a megacorporation that is trying to save the world (at least that's what the posters will tell you). Set in a dystopian future where Earth hangs by a thread as populations threaten to overwhelm the globe and new diseases emerge. It will be up to you, equipped with your very own Exo Suit to fight back against CREO and fight for your world. Your base Exo Suit can be upgraded with light, medium, or heavy attachments, allowing you to specialize into your chosen playstyle. Granted super-human strength, you are able to wield huge weapons and inflict massive damage onto your enemies, as well as survive dangerous environmental hazards such as toxic spills.

The game is being developed by Deck 13 who are no strangers to RPG games, this time around they are going for a more "hack and slash" RPG which can be best described as a "Sci- Fi Dark Souls" with robots. You will be able to slice apart enemies as you focus on limbs, giving a tactical element to combat as you work out what weakpoints are in an enemy. As in Dark Souls, you will need to make sure you time attacks and study patterns to avoid biting the dust. During your travels you'll need to defeat enemies, by doing so you can find various weapons and armor to upgrade that can be useful in helping you survive against the robot menace that is stationed inside the mega complex of CREO.

You may even run into some survivors along the way who may offer you optional quests with some great rewards, but be warned as you take on these harder challenges you may have to risk your life (and armor) as equipment will diminish over time.

ASUS - Join the Republic Live Gaming Event

The Surge is one of the games taking part in the ASUS - Join the Republic Live Gaming Event that is taking place in Berlin on April 1st. The eSport team Ninja in Pajamas will also be competing in various gaming matches with the community. During a press conference, ASUS will also present the latest hardware.
