Echoes of Central Park for The Division 2: Developer video shows how the horror came to the park

The ‘Echoes of Central Park’ DLC for The Division 2 is available now. In the dev video, the team explains why the park has become a scene of horror and what you can expect there.

Today’s the day: The Division 2: Echoes of Central Park (also available as the Deluxe Edition) is launching on PC. To mark the launch, the developers are literally giving you a glimpse behind the scenes and explaining how the new expansion for The Division 2 came about – and why things are set to get really spooky in the park this time round.

Horror in Central Park

This loot-based shooter with RPG elements sends you, as an agent, through a devastated city, either solo or in co-op. Echoes of Central Park follows on from Warlords of New York and Battle for Brooklyn, and is said to be roughly twice the size of the latter. Until now, you’ve only known Central Park as a mystery hidden behind the wall of the Dark Zone from the first instalment. Now, a new threat is lurking there, to which civilians, Cleaners and Black Tusk react in different ways. The horror element isn’t meant to be a clichéd Halloween spook, but rather something that fits within the Tom Clancy universe despite everything.

Companions and Endgame

In the campaign through the Upper West Side, three companions with their own abilities accompany you, though only one is present at any one time. In groups, only the leader brings one along. Afterwards, in the endgame, you go from the hunted to the hunter: Explore the park, upgrade your gear, and lure the threat out of cover. The longer you stay, the tougher it gets. There are also six skill variants that you can use in the main game once unlocked, a new gear set and the Ratel exotic weapon.
