TWW3 – Tides of Torment: 15 Minutes of New Gameplay shows Sayl the Unfaithful

Creative Assembly has released a new, approximately 15 minutes of gameplay footage for Total War: Warhammer 3 - Tides of Torment. This time, the focus is on the third and final Legendary Lord of the DLC: Sayl the Unfaithful, shaman-wizard and sinister leader of the Dolgan tribe from Norsca.

As the developers themselves say with a wink, Sayl the Faithless is an “ABSOLUTE JERK,” and his past quickly explains why: he was once one of seven sorcerer apprentices of the Dolgan tribe. Through manipulation, he drove his master, Schalkain the Wicked, to perform a demonic ritual, only to sabotage it at the crucial moment. The result was a spectacular explosion of chaos: Schalkain burst like a “meat balloon.”

The remaining apprentices were fused into a single, grotesque spawn of chaos: Nightmaw, Sayl's lifelong, hideously gurgling companion. But the chaotic energy also affected Sayl himself: blinded and mutated, cursed with constant visions of the realm of chaos. But instead of breaking him, his hunger for power grew immeasurably. He took over the Dolgan tribe, but less through loyalty than through the sheer fear of his followers.

In the showcase video for the upcoming Tides of Torment DLC pack, the developers emphasize that Sayl's campaign is all about self-empowerment, intrigue, and ruthless manipulation. Players will experience an aggressive, raid-heavy Norsca fantasy, enhanced by new mechanics that are part of the comprehensive Norsca overhaul released alongside the DLC.

Sayl starts in the far northeast of the Immortal Empires map at Mountain's End and can freely develop from there. Preferably by plundering neighbors or playing them off against each other. He won't make many friends, but with Nightmaw at his side and his Machiavellian skills, he doesn't need them.
