Warhammer meets classic DOOM with the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun!
If you're wondering what a FPS in the Warhammer 40k universe would have been like back when ID Software dominated the genre with DOOM and Quake, then Warhammer 40K: Boltgun is probably the answer.
As a return to childhood and pixels, the upcoming FPS developed by Auroch Digital and published by Focus Entertainment is certainly nostalgic. IGN's latest gameplay video proves it. There are no repetitive quests, no open world to explore or RPG-style metaprogression. A space marine, an arsenal, enemies to scatter like a puzzle.
Journalist Luke Winkie recounts his experience:
After an hour of playing Boltgun, I can safely say that the recipe works like a charm. This is not a shooter where you have to make tough tactical decisions. The Space Marine is big, strong and very durable. It encourages players to switch off their brains and I found myself absorbing a ton of damage as I eviscerated anyone who opposed the Glorious Empire.
We'll have to wait and see if we can use the Chainsaw Sword though, as there's no release date set. We'll keep you posted on the progress of the game and you can find Warhammer 40k: Boltgun on Gamesplanet as soon as this gore-filled game becomes available.
