Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus 2 will plunge the Adeptus Mechanicus into a Holy War on May 21
The Cult of the Omnissiah returns to the spotlight this Thursday with Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2. The sequel aims to build on everything that made the first game so compelling and lead the Adeptus Mechanicus into a much larger conflict—one pitting scientific research against technological corruption.
In the Warhammer 40,000 universe, the Adeptus Mechanicus is the organization that preserves humanity’s technological knowledge. Half priest, half cyborg, its members worship machines as sacred relics and view technology as a form of divinity. The first Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus told the story of Magos Dominus Faustinius’ expedition to the planet Silva Tenebris, where the Adeptus Mechanicus faced a Necron threat that had emerged from the depths of an ancient tomb.
Continuing a Success Story
The game made a strong impression (89% positive Steam reviews) with its techno-religious aesthetic and its highly faithful portrayal of the Empire’s Machine Cult. Building on this, Warhammer 40K: Mechanicus 2 aims to further expand the ideological conflict between the factions and introduce more internal tensions within the Martian cult. Some factions are willing to cross dangerous boundaries to reclaim forgotten technologies.
The Necrons will also play a central role in this sequel, and for the first time, you can take command of them yourself—in the role of Vargarde Nefershah. With its immortal armies and technology far superior to that of the Imperium, this ancient mechanical civilization ranks among the greatest threats in the galaxy.
The new scenario seems to shed more light on the ambivalent relationship between the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Necrons. Fascinated by their technological knowledge, some Tech-Priests might be tempted to examine—or even use—artifacts that the Imperium considers heretical.
Get your Steam key on Gamesplanet on May 21 and assemble your squad of Tech-Priests for turn-based tactical combat, managing your cybernetic abilities, and upgrading your units!
