Way of the Hunter receives a free map update with Elkcrest Island

Way of the Hunter concludes its map DLC series with Elkcrest Island—free for the first time, including a new predator and freshly spruced-up wilderness.

Good news for those of you who have been following Way of the Hunter for years: Elkcrest Island, the fifth and final map DLC, is now available – and it's completely free. Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Nine Rocks Games are thus putting an end to 3.5 years of support and thanking the community for their loyalty.

The new Way of the Hunter map takes you to a remote northern region of North America. The area is characterized by rolling hills, striking mountain ranges, and sparsely populated landscapes. Elkcrest Island offers two highlights in terms of content: the North American cougar is making its debut in the series, and a fan favorite is making a comeback: Merriam's wild turkey is back.

In terms of virtual hunting opportunities, the map covers a wide spectrum. In the high altitudes, you'll encounter large game such as moose, wapiti, and Kodiak bears. Various species of ducks await you on the water, while wolves, foxes, and nimble hares roam the forests and plains. In short, the map is intended as a varied finale that once again brings together many different playing styles.

Parallel to the release, the studio is looking ahead. The Steam page for the next project in the series (Next Hunting Adventure) is now online. For Way of the Hunter, Elkcrest Island marks the end of a chapter – and for you, the opportunity to go on a new hunt for free once again.
