What to expect in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Beta!

Activision and Treyarch invite you to an "unforgettable Black Ops Cold War Beta". Play it as early as mid October, well before the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on November 13th 2020. When does the Cold War Beta for PC gamers start? How do you play in Early Access? All info here.

Prepare for battle as the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Beta is just around the corner. While the Playstation 4 players will be able to jump in this weekend (with their exclusive beta), PC players can look forward to getting their hands on the PC Beta from next week. As with previous COD Beta events, the game will have an exclusive pre-order early access period, as well as an open beta for everyone else 2 days later. Anyone who pre-orders Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, for example at Gamesplanet can start the fight on October 15th until October 19th. Those who do not want to jump in early by pre-ordering can play from October 17th.

Play in the Beta to unlock the SMG Weapon Blueprint for the full game

Anyone who is serious about Call of Duty will be happy about every item unlocked in the game and by taking part in the upcoming Beta you'll be able to get your hands on an exclusive weapon blueprint, which will carry over to the full release of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Activision is offering the SMG Weapon blueprint for beta participants who reach at least level 10 during the Open or Closed Beta. So it's worth participating.

Weapon blueprints allow you to use individual equipment that either has unique selling points because of its name and eye-catching appearance, or with a variety of pre-assembled attachements within the armory. With such attachments you can adapt the armament to your playstyle and thus give you a slight advantage over your foes. If you reach level 10 in the Cold War Beta, you will receive the SMG (Mutual Animosity) Weapon Blueprint for when the full game launches on November 13th.

What is included in the COD Black Ops Cold War Beta?

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will also feature an adrenaline fueled single player campaign. Ultimately, however, most COD gamers will be interested in the numerous multiplayer modes, which also guarantee Cold War a very long life cycle thanks to the frequent updates. This is what the beta of Black Ops Cold War is all about, with a mix of game modes, different locations and playlists. How will the COD community react to the multiplayer? Can the servers withstand the onslaught? Which game modes are particularly well received? Let's find out together from October 15th.

For the beta, developer Treyarch and publisher Activision are focusing on classic Black Ops modes such as the classic 6 vs. 6 and "Combined Arms" with two teams of 12 players each. The Beta will also feature the brand new "Fireteam: Dirty Bomb" game mode that'll see 40 players battling it out over a large map (much like the Ground War mode from COD MW). Expect to be fighting on multiple locations from the Cold War, such as Miami, Moscow and the Black Sea.

Make progress in the beta with the typical promotion system for the series and unlock new equipment for your missions. New weapons, field equipment and even espionage techniques will be added to your inventory as your rank increases. Activision is also providing updates and "a few surprises" for the beta. Whatever they may be!

Warzone will be featured in Black Ops Cold War too, but it's unclear how they'll handle it as both MW and CW feature different gameplay. My guess is they'll do a new Warzone for CW, but I am not 100% sure.
