Crimson Desert: System requirements for PC, Mac, and ROG Ally are pleasantly surprising
Pearl Abyss has revealed the official PC requirements for Crimson Desert shortly before its release on March 19. The specs are significantly more accessible than expected. Even older mid-range GPUs will be able to run the game.
Crimson Desert is an open-world action RPG from Pearl Abyss that transports you to the vast continental world of Pywel. As a mercenary, you'll fight your way through dynamic battles, explore a game world full of details, and follow an epic story—all powered by the company's proprietary BlackSpace Engine. The game's visually impressive appearance benefits from an expansive view of the open world, authentic weather effects, day and night cycles, particle effects, complex animation rendering, ray tracing, and other treats for the eye. PC requirements: Older hardware also supported
If you want to play Crimson Desert on PC, a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 5500 XT graphics card combined with a Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i5-8500 CPU will suffice. The minimum target: 1080p with upscaling at around 30 FPS. DirectX 12 is a mandatory requirement. Okay, 30 FPS at only 1080p is no longer really up to date for PC gamers. But the next step up to medium graphics settings also conserves PC resources.
For smoother 60 FPS at native 1080p – or alternatively 4K at 30 FPS – Pearl Abyss recommends an RTX 2080 or RX 6700 XT and a Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-11600K. If you're aiming for Ultra and 4K at 60 FPS, you'll need some serious hardware: RTX 5070 Ti or RX 7900 XT, plus a Ryzen 7 7700X or Core i5-13600K.
At all levels, 16 GB of RAM and 150 GB of SSD storage are considered mandatory.
Mac and ROG Xbox Ally also included
Surprisingly, Crimson Desert is already being considered for macOS. The game supports Apple Silicon chips from M2 Pro onwards – M3 Max or M4 Max are required for the highest settings with 4K and 40 FPS. Pearl Abyss recommends macOS 26 “Tahoe” or newer for optimal stability.
PC handheld fans won't be disappointed either: the ROG Xbox Ally targets 720p at 40 FPS, while the more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X model achieves upscaled 1080p at up to 60 FPS in performance mode. FSR 3 Super Resolution and Frame Generation are used for acceleration.
Crimson Desert will be released on March 19th. Remember to check your hardware before you turn Pywel upside down.
