Old World: DLC “Empires of the Indus” releases on March 30 – new video
For the historical strategy game Old World, the new DLC “Empires of the Indus” will be released on March 30, 2026, featuring fresh nations, units, and maps. To announce the date, Hooded Horse has published a new video.
The DLC “Empires of the Indus” (coming soon to Gamesplanet) expands Old World with several playable civilizations and historical features. Starting with the DLC’s release on March 30, you can lead the Mauryas, the Yuezhi, and Tamilakam — each representing major dynasties that shaped the Indian subcontinent over six centuries. The DLC also introduces the Huns as a tribe, including unique events centered around Attila.
Religious mechanics in Old World are expanded with Hinduism and Buddhism: all new nations begin with Hinduism, while the Mauryas can establish Buddhism as a world religion through a special project. The DLC also lets you construct four new world wonders: the Great Stupa of Sanchi, the Mahavihara, the Monumental Buddhas, and the Chittorgarh Hill Fort — granting bonuses to culture, science, unit healing, and city stability.
Old World: Empires of the Indus also adds new rare resources such as jade, silk, spices, and ebony, along with more than 200 events, 60 ambitions, and eleven new cognomens. Three new map scripts and five pre-made maps offer gameplay variations ranging from the entire subcontinent to smaller duel maps in the Indus Valley or Bactria. The new jungle terrain also introduces strategic effects on movement and ranged attacks.
With the release on March 30, 2026, you can build your empire, test new tactics, and reenact the historical rise of South Asian empires. The trailer provides a first look at the new nations and mechanics.
