TEKKEN 8 - Review Score Roundup

Tekken 8 is almost here and the new instalment in the long-established series is already raking in dream ratings. Here are the first reviews from the critics!

The champagne corks must be popping at Bandai Namco: Ahead of the upcoming TEKKEN 8 release later today, the trade press is already on hand with the first tests and ratings. And they are impressive. On Metacritic, there are already eight reviews with a full score on the collective page for test scores - i.e. 100 out of a possible 100 points. This is followed by a number of 90+ ratings. IGN, Jeuxvideo and GamingBolt score 90 points. Meanwhile, over at OpenCritic it's a similar story, with a Mighty 90 score, and 97% of the critics recommending the game.

IGN, who gave the game a 9/10 praised the "if it's not broke don't fix it" approach that the series has taken (Tekken?). As the latest entry in the series does take some of what TEKKEN 7 had, but improves in certain ways. Such as the new Heat System, which enhanced your offensive abilities at the same as recovering health.

Moving on, Eurogamer gave the game a perfect 5/5 stars. "Tekken 8 is a marked improvement over Tekken 7 and a perfectly executed balancing act, keeping older players happy while revealing its trademark freedom to newcomers.".
