YES! The Elder Scrolls Oblivion remaster is now available - first trailer for the new version, these are the contents
Nineteen years after the smashing success of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Bethesda has now announced the remaster - and released it straight away. The hype is real and the role-playing milestone has been given a fresh new look.
The original The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was praised for many of its features when it was released in 2006. In the huge, open world of Cyrodiil, role-players could enjoy a great deal of freedom, complete numerous side quests and follow a very successful story path. The degree of freedom also continued in the skill-based character development, in dealing with NPCs and many a twist in the quests showed just how much attention to detail and creativity Bethesda Game Studios had put into this RPG heavyweight.
The graphics based on the Havok physics engine were also a feast for the eyes and a novelty at the time. A spectacular depiction of landscapes, forests and bodies of water, covered with outstanding lighting effects, and an unrivalled foresight at the time also contributed positively to the rating results. Today, the original from 2006 has a Metascore of 94 points on Metacritic (must-play award).
But the standards of 2006 are not the standards we apply in 2025. And so we are all the more delighted that Bethesda, together with the development studio Virtuos, has now not only officially announced the new remaster edition of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion today, but also promptly released it, complete with the popular Oblivion add-ons. The previous leaks and rumours have therefore been confirmed. With modernised graphics and many a quality-of-life improvement, revised character presentation, additional voice samples, improved animations and much more, the Oblivion remaster is now available - also on Gamesplanet. Find out more here in the first official trailer for the Oblivion remaster, in which not only Todd Howard has his say, but also the many creative minds from the development team.
