The next entry in the RTS hit series is set to arrive tomorrow with the release of Total War: WARHAMMER 2. While you wait, we've got a handy guide on everything you need to know for the game.

What is Total War: WARHAMMER 2?

The sequel to the 2016 RTS hit Total War: WARHAMMER, this new entry will see four factions compete over The Great Vortex, a mysterious power that all seek to control. Once a group of High Elf mages forged a massive arcane Vortex, with the purpose being to draw on the Winds of Magic from the world and use it to fight against the Daemonic forces forcing them back to the Realm of Chaos. Now the world is on the verge of war again and the power of The Great Vortex is failing. Factions are moving to heal the source and avert destruction, but some seek to use the Vortex for their own means. You will play as one of four factions, the High Elves, Dark Elves, Skaven and the Lizardmen, each will seek out the Great Vortex for themselves and will let nothing stand in their way. Races will have their own unique units and heroes that can be brought into battle to turn the tide of war.

Total War: WARHAMMER 2 is the second game in a trilogy and follow up to last year's Total: WARHAMMER. It brings a new narrative campaign that takes place in the lands of Lustria, Ulthuan, Naggaroth and the Southlands. There will be 8 Legendary Lords that you can pick from and it will be up to you to either destroy or repair The Great Vortex. Like the original game you're given a massive campaign map and large scale battles that can look like a scene from a Lord of the Rings movie at times, plus you're able to fight against others in multiplayer battles to see who the ultimate victor will be.

Additionally, after launch players of both the original game and Total War: WARHAMMER 2 will be able get access to the brand new campaign map, that will combine both games into a large epic experience that can bring any owned factions into the fray.

Launch Times for Total War: WARHAMMER 2

The release for Total War: WARHAMMER 2 will be on September 28th, at 08:30 AM BST / 09:30 AM CEST /. As soon as the game is out you will be able to start your battle against the other factions for control over the Great Vortex (if you have preloaded that is).

Remember you can start your preload the game on Steam right now, simply get your key and add it to Steam so you're ready for launch!

PC Recommended Specifications:
If you want to get the most out of the game, you should try to meet the recommened requirements to get the best possible experience. You can get 45-55 FPS in the campaign, 1v1 and 20v20 battles should have these requirements if they want to tackle the game on the "High" preset using a 1920x1080 display.

To get at least 25-35 FPS with the campaign, 1v1 and 20v20 battles should have these requirements if they want to tackle the game on the "Low" preset using a 1280x720 display.

Players who want to run at 60 FPS and higher with the campaign, 1v1 and 20v20 battles should have these requirements if they want to tackle the game on the "Ultra" preset using a 1920x1080 display.

PC Settings

As with any PC game, settings will be a key factor in tweaking the game to run on a variety of hardware and Total War: WARHAMMER 2 delivers a huge list of features that can be tweaked including Grass Detail, Building Detail, Depth of Field, Screen Space Ambient Occlusion, Fog, Resolution Scale and much more!

Here you can get an idea of what settings are enabled in each of the presets, however you can also tweak the game with custom settings to get a mix between high/ultra for the best performance on your setup.
