E3 2021: Action RPG ELEX II Revealed, Coming Soon to PC

The open-world role-playing game ELEX will soon be continued. An action-packed announcement trailer from E3 promises an imminent release of the sequel ELEX 2.

News from the Gothic and Risen makers. Apparently, ELEX 2 has been in development at Piranha Bytes for quite some time. Because the announcement trailer released today during the E3 shows promises a "Coming Soon" release date. It is quite possible that the sequel to the open-world role-playing game will be released this year.

The inhabitants of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi fantasy world of Magalan face a new threat. It's been a few years since protagonist Jax's victory over the hybrids, and before things get boring on Magalan, a bunch of antagonists figured Dark ELEX and its associated dark forces should add a little oomph. So Jax will strap on his rocket pack again in ELEX 2 and jet through a fantastic open world full of wonderful sights and rich vistas. The jetpack in ELEX 2 is supposed to let you travel even more flexibly and across further distances.

Piranha Bytes has the game with the different factions that'll all be dealing with their own conflicts. ELEX 2 is supposed to be strongly oriented towards Gothic 2 and once again you have to win over and unite different groups for the common cause. Not so easy for someone who has previously been exiled. But fortunately there are those who will help Jax find the right skills and let him choose the right answers and questions in dialogues. Jax doesn't just have to face the invaders, though: Son Dex has also disappeared and peace can only return to Magalan when the family is united.

Old formulas, greatly expanded

Predecessor ELEX shone with a rather varied game world and very creatively designed enemies. In ELEX 2, too, a similar setting allows for a lot of creative freedom. From cosy fantasy forests and mountainsides to high-tech facilities and the ruins of a post-apocalyptic world, there should be something for everyone. Piranha Bytes manages to bring the contrasts of nature and technology credibly under one roof.

The developer studio says that no other title from its own development offers as many storylines and dialogues as ELEX 2. Anyone who has completed the main campaign of ELEX 2 will probably have spent about 60 hours with the RPG. It is clear that numerous side quests will keep eager role-players happy for even longer.

The developers promise more than three factions and the return of the companion system. Find companions who will stand by your side in battles while you explore old, but heavily modified areas, as well as completely new areas in the world of ELEX 2. As befits a role-playing game, the choice of class is not neglected either. Play ELEX 2 as a melee or ranged fighter, try your hand as a mage or develop a mix of classes according to your own taste.
