Gothic 1 Remake: Preorders Now Live on Gamesplanet – Soundtrack as a Bonus
The Gothic 1 Remake is now available for preorder on Gamesplanet. Anyone who buys before release will receive the official soundtrack for free as a preorder bonus.
Only two months to go! The release date for the Gothic 1 Remake is set: on June 5, 2026, one of the most influential role-playing classics of all time returns, completely rebuilt but still carrying that unmistakable Gothic feel. Developer Alkimia Interactive (under the umbrella of THQ Nordic) has recreated Piranha Bytes’ 2001 original from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5. That means: a modern combat system, reworked animations, expanded quests, more detailed NPC routines – and still the same harsh, unforgiving world that made Gothic a cult classic. Side note: since the remake is built on Unreal Engine, an unofficial VR mod could quickly emerge after release with the help of a VR injector – meaning you might soon step right into the Colony with your Quest. What a dream!
A Penal Colony with Its Own Charm
In the Gothic 1 Remake, you once again play the nameless prisoner thrown into the magically sealed penal colony in the Valley of Mines of Khorinis. A failed magical barrier has trapped everyone inside – guards and criminals alike. The result: a lawless microcosm of rival factions, dangerous creatures, and a strict pecking order. Which faction you join and how you carve your path through the colony is entirely up to you. With over 50 hours of gameplay and a living open world where inhabitants go about their daily routines independently of you, the Gothic 1 Remake promises a full-fledged RPG experience for both veterans and newcomers alike.
